Your Trusted Alabama Bankruptcy Attorney

I began my career as a lawyer during the late 2000s, in the midst of the major housing crisis. As a result, much of my growing experience revolved around dealing with many businesses and business owners who were facing serious financial difficulties. At the time, I did not have any expertise in bankruptcy, so I felt like I was missing an important tool that could help a lot of people navigate their financial downturns and issues.

Bankruptcy is a “tool” that can come into play when a business retains the ability to thrive and generate revenue by virtue of having a definitive market for its goods or services, but is also hamstrung by debt (e.g., from a secured lender whose property is under-secured, under-secured creditors such as vendors or trades people, or a lease that is dragging them down at one particular location). A business that can be described in this way can be saved through the elimination or restructuring of debt via bankruptcy.

To determine whether bankruptcy is the next right step in any given situation, the question that must be answered is this: Is there a potentially successful business that is burdened by debt, but that could thrive following a restructuring of that debt?

Most owners of a small or medium-sized business are fully dedicated to their business—they are their business—and they are facing everyday difficulties that are beginning to overtake them. The last thing they want is for their business to fail, so they are trying desperately to find a solution, but may not be aware of their options.
